Scales, Modes & Melodic Patterns for Rock Guitar (4 Pack) | Andrew M. Cavallo

Since I'm a hard rock guitarist, I rely heavily on Aeolian, harmonic minor, Phrygian dominant, Hungarian minor, double harmonic minor, and similar scales. Unlike many other rock guitarists, however, my compositions are deeply informed by early music—namely Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque traditions. Because of this strong Medieval influence, the Dorian mode—and modal thinking more broadly—is a central part of my style.

Students who take my Scales, Modes, and Melodic Patterns course will develop a solid foundation in rock guitar, enriched by mysterious, ancient-sounding inflections.

Since I take a player's approach, the course places strong emphasis on execution: alternate picking, economy picking, tremolo picking, fingerings, and more. Although the course follows a structured curriculum, lessons are always tailored to each student's needs and playing level.
